Children first and at the heart of all we do

Through our ‘Child Friendly Dudley’ agenda we have the highest ambitions for our children and young people. Relationships are key to our vision and our values and beliefs are founded on the principles of Restorative Practice which provides us with our framework for practice and organisational culture

Dudley borough is a great place to call home and with our new community-led vision, Forging a Future for All, now is the time to join us and be part of our exciting journey.

With ambitious plans to create a thriving borough, where people want to live, work and visit, the vision is built on organisations across the borough working together.

And there’s no greater opportunity to ‘Forge a Future for All’ than by being part of Dudley Council’s children’s services team.

This year we have redesigned our social work teams to strengthen our restorative and relational practice framework and implement the Family Safeguarding model.  We have colleagues from partner agencies seconded to our service to work alongside the social workers supporting and challenging families to make changes that enable their children to thrive.  This is proving to be a progressive and exciting path for professionals, swiftly resulting in performance improvements and innovations that are making big differences to our children, young people and families.

We recognise the importance of investing in our workforce and are committed to encouraging staff to take up the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills through our learning and development offer. This is provided by our innovative Centre for Professional Practice which is gaining a growing reputation in the sector.

Alongside this, we have developed a rewarding career pathway for all social workers and children’s services staff. Our well-established programme supports not only newly-qualified social workers, but also invests in continuing professional development through our membership of Research in Practice , the West Midlands Social Work Teaching Partnership and our in house learning and development programme.  We have a new Advanced Social Work Practitioner role for social workers with substantial experience combining work with children requiring skilled help with supporting the practice of others.

Our reshaped service offers a great opportunity for staff to influence and develop as we accelerate the pace of change. We want the best people to travel with us and to reap the rewards along the way.

We are recruiting team managers, advanced social work practitioners and social workers. For more information visit http://childrenservicesjobs-dudley.org.uk/ or for an informal chat call Cornelia Heaney, Service Manager for Professional Practice 07929 768511.
